A First-Week Plan for a New Rental Panel Owner
The first week decides whether your panel becomes a business or a half-finished website. Most new owners lose days to small decisions. This plan removes the guesswork by giving each day one job.
Day 1: lock the doors
Before anything else, protect the admin area. Set a long, unique password, switch on two-factor authentication and decide who really needs access. If a helper needs to look at orders, create a staff account instead of sharing your login.
Day 2: make it look like yours
Choose a theme, upload a simple logo and set your colors. Do not chase perfection. A clean wordmark and two colors are enough. Open the site on your phone, because that is how most customers will see it.
Day 3: connect one provider
Add a single provider and check that its balance appears. Import only the services you are willing to support. A small, clear list is easier to price, test and explain.
Day 4: set prices
Add a margin to each provider rate. Decide your rule once, for example a fixed percentage plus a floor, and apply it consistently. Use the bulk editor so you are not changing rates one at a time.
Day 5: payments
Switch on the first gateway your customers use. Make a small real deposit yourself and confirm the balance reaches a customer account. Write short, clear instructions for the method.
Day 6: the test order
Create a customer account in a private window, order a low-cost service and follow it to the end. Write down every moment you hesitated. Those are the places your customers will hesitate too.
Day 7: soft launch
Share the link with a handful of people who might use it. Ask them to place a small order and tell you what confused them. Fix the top three issues before you promote the panel more widely.
After the first week, keep the same rhythm: one improvement a day, checked against real orders. Speed matters less than steady progress.
