A Security Checklist for Rental Panel Owners
A rental panel handles the servers and updates, but account security is yours. Most breaches start with a weak password or a shared login, not with a clever attack.
The checklist
- Use a long, unique password for the owner account
- Switch on two-factor authentication for admin sign-in
- Keep the admin captcha enabled
- Give each staff member their own account and remove it when they leave
- Use a custom admin URL and do not publish it
- Keep API keys on the server and regenerate them if exposed
- Review the activity log for odd behaviour
- Never reuse your panel password elsewhere
- Keep your email account secure, since it can reset everything
- Back up what matters and know how to restore it
Staff and roles
Give people the least access they need. A support agent does not need to edit prices, and a price editor does not need to read tickets.
Your customers' security
Encourage customers to turn on two-factor authentication where it is offered, and tell them never to share their password or API key.
What the platform does for you
Hosting, SSL and software updates are handled for you, with a backup taken before each update. Higher plans add daily backup and stronger protection. These help, but they do not replace good habits.
Set a reminder to review this checklist every quarter.
